Stanlee Gatti Design for New Yorker Event
Event Displays
Blow Up Lab works with Event Planners to produce custom murals and props for prestigious events in high-profile locations. For the project featured here, we enlarged and printed on satin photo paper, laminated, framed and installed a set of The New Yorker magazine covers at 8 x 5 feet each for one of the Publisher’s press luncheons in San Francisco.
Headlands Center For The Arts
Art Mural and Banners
Blow Up Lab was thrilled to print the awesome artist Rashaad Newsome’s amazing wall mural. It was part of the featured art piece at Headlands Center for the Arts 2018 Benefit Auction. The detail of his imagery includes various pieces of exquisite floral jewelry set into a pattern. Blow Up Lab printed the pattern on smooth, vinyl wall covering for installation on the exterior of a “floating room”; inside of which the artist featured an array of spectacular video projections.
Blow Up Lab also printed colorful, vinyl banners for the event, which were suspended from the ceiling at each food service location inside the Festival Pavilion. It was an exceptional party, enjoyed by all who attended.
Stanlee Gatti Design for SFMOMA
Print Event Murals
One of our treasured clients, Stanlee Gatti, is so creative we always enjoy helping him bring his clever concepts to life for his spectacular events. For the project featured here, the goal was to create an Andy Warhol-esque mural at 9 x 9 feet using a portrait of the then President of the Board at SFMOMA and making a large portrait for the stage. We printed both on satin photo paper, mounted on gator board and luster laminated for this special museum event.
EXHIBITS for A.C.T. (American Conservatory Theatre)
Event Display Photos
Exhibits curated and produced this exhibition for the 25th anniversary of A.C.T. celebration. Blow Up Lab was hired to print the large photos in this historical exhibition. The photos feature the background and highlights of over twenty five years of this theater company and school.
Gil Mendez Design
Print on Canvas Blow Up Lab worked with Interior Designer Gil Mendez to help resource a photograph to be featured in this elegant, designer showcase dining room. Then Blow Up Lab converted it from color to black & white and printed it with archival inks on canvas. After that, the Lab stretched the canvas on in-house built wood bars. Murray’s Iron Works provided a hammered metal frame specifically made for the print. Gil was fun to work with and was quoted in the SF Chronicle saying (under the heading of Artful Execution):
The Blow Up Lab produces high-quality photos and graphic prints on more types of media than I could have ever imagined. I recently had them print my own original artwork – a portrait of our dog – on canvas, for my partner’s birthday. Hands down, it was the best gift I have ever given.
World Photography Organization
Print and Mount Banners and Photographs
The World Photography Organization contacted us from London to ask us to help them with the World Photography Festival and Sony World Photography Awards presentation. We printed and mounted hundreds of photographs and large sponsor banners for this exceptional event they staged in five cities around the world. The only place it was shown in the US was San Francisco. We really enjoyed working with all their Executives and crew. Cheers World Photography Organization!
Mayor of San Francisco
Create Award Statues
A fun and different kind of project, then Mayor Willie Brown had Blow Up Lab make the “Herbie Awards.” He would give out those awards to recipients in honor of writer and SF Chronicle columnist Herb Caen. Later, we were asked to make George Shultz Awards in a similar manner. Both we created by printing and laminating on photo paper, mounting to gator board, then cutting and mounting to stands. Not sure what one had to do to receive one of these awards, but it was a fun project!
