Banana Republic
Backlit Film Store Displays
Blow Up Lab experimented with Banana Republic’s Interior Designer, David Fruscione, to create these custom, backlit murals. We scanned a tufted fabric linen panel. Then we manipulated the file immensely and printed it on translucent film to custom fit existing backlit glass displays. The large pane mural is 12 x 20 feet and the cash counter is 3 x 15 feet. This unique, in-store boutique design received exceptional accolades upon completion.
Kryolan Cosmetics
Backlit Store Display
Kryolan is the professional make-up brand loved and used by make-up artists worldwide. Their cosmetics are the leading brand for actors and performers in theatrical productions, films, television, opera and ballet. But their stores around the globe are also open to the public. Blow Up printed and installed all the backlit film shown here for their San Francisco and Chicago stores. All of these assorted sized images (We love the fabulous photo files they send us from their Berlin headquarters.) were printed on translucent film and directly installed onto their light boxes. We enjoy our on-going relationship with Kryolan since they are also our SOMA neighbors.
Museum of Craft + Design
Museum Gift Shop Mural
Designer Ted Cohen sat with us at the computer for many hours scanning images and designing the layout for this enormous wall mural featured in the SF Museum of Craft + Design gift shop. It was printed as a huge, single sheet (5 x 15 feet) of poly-fabric and installed onto a concrete wall.
Banana Republic, Editions
Store Window Displays
These store window displays we printed and installed for Editions by Banana Republic show how Blow Up specializes in pre-production file creation and preparation. For example, in the photo print of the desert road, we used our Photoshop expertise to convert 2 images from color to black & white, then applied effects to extend the road and/or sidewalk across the floor in the foreground. We also applied other digital tweaks for specified effects. We printed both murals, the desert landscape and Times Square in the rain, on vinyl at 10 x 20 feet each.
