What we do
Blow Up Lab offers full scanning services of originals, prints, transparencies and negatives. Our state-of-the-art, oversized scanning area with custom-built 8 foot lights and moving walls, combined with our unique software, can make up to one gigabyte, 16 bit, high-resolution, digital files from single panel, original art up to 5 feet x 8 feet. And we can composite pixel to pixel from originals even larger, any size.
Blow Up produces high-quality digital prints. Our Epson, HP, Canon, and Mutoh large-format roll printers can produce color or black and white images at any size up to 64 inches by 25 feet on a variety of papers, canvas, natural & synthetic fabrics, films, vinyl. Our Mutoh prints on rigid substrates up to 4 feet x 8 feet. All of our printers utilize archival or eco-friendly inks.
MOUNTING • FINISHING
Although an artisan’s craft, finishing often goes unrecognized. The last step in the printing process, our finishing department takes great pride in their skill and attention to detail.
Blow Up’s Photoshop experts can work wonders to restore your damaged or faded photographs, prints, posters, drawings, paintings. We start by scanning the original, then repair and enhance image file to the point preferred by client, before we print on matching or other chosen media. Thus, creating a new print as close to the state the piece was in before damaged or faded.
ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Blow Up Lab prints fine art and photography on acid-free, museum "rag" papers, cotton blend canvases and other natural fabrics. Our professional fine art printers (Epson Pro 11880s and Canon IPF 8100s) utilize archival, 8 and 12-color pigment-based, aqueous ink systems rated to last approximately 75 to 200 years against fading, depending on the ink and media combination.
Blow Up Lab specializes in trial exhibits for law firms, government litigators and expert witnesses. We can work directly from computer files or original sources to blow up photographs, documents, demonstrative evidence, jury instructions, graphs, charts and timelines to client’s specifications. High resolution scanning of oversized x-rays is one of our specialties.
Blow Up Lab’s pre-production department uses the most current digital software available to prepare files for optimal print quality; utilizing our expert color correction, cropping, interpolation, and re-sizing techniques. Professional design and layout services are also available.
Blow Up's professional installers will skillfully and efficiently install small and large projects alike, from framed prints and canvases to banners and adhesive-backed films. We specialize in printing and applying large murals to wall surfaces, indoor and outdoor, in a variety of wall-covering materials.
